Work Meditation

Sw. Sameer

When I think of my ‘Work as Meditation’ experience in Nisarga, my heart fills with joy and my imagination is painted with beautiful memories of Shunya Mandir under the vast blue skies and white snow-capped Himalayas, lush green plants and the sound of flowing river. Working at the feet of the Master, surrounded by beautiful people with sparkling eyes full of bliss, love and depth. The very air of the centre is charged with life, love, and awareness. Retracing my steps back to March 2022 when I first came here, I was blown away by the beauty of the place and the delicious heart-warming food.

Nisarga, a beautiful journey of meeting myself and my Master. It was a call, a call from snow-covered peaks, crazy river, vast sky, beautiful birds and much more as if I arrived home.

While doing work meditation at Nisarga some unseen corners of my Being were clearly visible. When I arrived, I could feel some kind of unsettled energy. My first task was to communicate with people as I was at the reception. Communication was one of the biggest challenges I was facing. So, journey started with small essential steps. Ma Neelam used to sit with me and help me write emails using the right choice of words. As there is a regular flow of people coming and going at the reception, so the arrival and departure days were busy dealing with participants. I realized how difficult it was for me to be articulate what I wanted to say. I slowly learned to express myself. As I got more aware, it got better with time.

Doing accounts with Swami Tathagat I observed how he took care of any problem with ease. His organizing skills and strong presence could manage a lot. In a month of being in Nisarga came the Vipassana group. Tathagat invited me for a few sessions. I realised how difficult it was for me to sit in silence. The restlessness in my body was obvious. I changed my posture and cushion and learnt how to close my eyes softly and focus on the breath. It took around 8 months of practice until I started enjoying sittings. I was happily surprised when I found myself sitting still during white robes.

I first came to Nisarga in 2017, as a 19-year-old to participate in a photography meditation retreat. I was young and didn’t know what I wanted from life. But had a strong intuition that this was the place I was longing to be there. So, I applied for work meditation.

The first year I spent as a Shunya Mandir coordinator. The intense experience of doing so many programs and therapies moved a lot in me and it made me a meditator a seeker.

I was playing different roles in different programs. Sometimes a helper, a team coordinator, a DJ, a photographer, a guide for nature walks, cleaning and arranging for the next session and much more. From morning till evening playing different roles I have become flexible. I find myself at ease in responding to the present Now.

“The heart is the center where love happens, where birth happens, where death happens.” Osho.

That HEART for me is OSHONISARGA in its entirety.

A girl like me who dreamt from teenage to live a commune life-Nisarga was the perfect place. Where love took leaps and bounds in me, I was born again, and my old self was leaving me. I was singing, dancing, celebrating and living the way I wished to live.

Ma Megha

I came to Nisarga with a seed in my heart, deciding to do work meditation in the mandir, was a commitment to myself, to nurture the seed. Immersed in the feeling of love and devotion, was quite unaware of what lay ahead.

And it was a ride! So many different groups, people from various parts of the world, sannyasin friends, different emotions, feelings evoked, a lot happening outside instigated a lot on the inside.

Making arrangements, preparations, giving finishing touches, when I entered the mandir for the sessions, everything seemed to come to a standstill – a deep silence. Like a warm, safe place, where my heart could rest and I could just ‘be’.

Living in a commune, I had never experienced before. To live with people on the path, walking together, sharing experiences, love, joy and sadness, enriched me and gave valuable insights to relate.

Osho came as the most beautiful blessing into my life in 2012. One of my friends, Mukul introduced me to Osho. Thank you Mukul. I was so happy to have found Osho. I started listening to him, practicing his meditation techniques, especially active meditations. I got to know about Osho Nisarga through Google. Thanks to Google. I came here and felt this place is no less than paradise. Oh My God! I felt home here.

I feel so grateful to Osho, Priya, Ma Neelam and Sw.Tathagat for giving me this opportunity to stay here. I still remember the incident when Priya told me to come for work meditation program which I had been wanting to be part of since the day I came to Osho Nisarga for the first time. Staying in Nisarga has been very nourishing. Everyday a new challenge, a new lesson, a new insight learning from mistakes laughing, singing, dancing, crying and what not. And last but not the least, the yummy food in Nisarga. To be honest, food was also one of the reasons behind my urge to be here. Osho has enriched my life in every possible way which is difficult to put into words. Thank you Osho. That’s all I have to say. But I would definitely like to share my learning in Nisarga.

“Aham Bramasmi”!! Two words that describe my state of being and my life at Osho Nisarga – A Meditation Centre in the Himalayas.

Meditating at the Shunya Mandir, the meditation hall as it is called here. Shunya meaning, “nothingness”; mandir meaning, “temple”. Meditating at the temple of nothingness, I am simply living the “God’s life”; that is the only way I can describe my life at Osho Nisarga in the last 6 months I have been here!

Some more words that describe the wonderful, abundant life at Osho Nisarga are, “heavenly delicious food”, “wild untamed yet serene nature”, “conscious celebration”, “melodious groovy, deeply meditative music”, all of this aiding to arrive at a deep and joyful state of meditation.

Osho Nisarga in its very nature is the closest to a living, throbbing presence of the most eccentric, self-realized master that the world has ever seen – Osho! The master to whom and to whose meditations and philosophy, this beautiful meditation centre is dedicated to.
